You could choose from the following 2 options;
format free; use Oxford
University Press (HUMSOC) for annotations
1) Write a 400-word film
review about an Asian film you have recently watched (please offer
date of viewing/cinema theater’s name etc.); could be one from/for our class
too;
2) write a 400-word
report on a film event in town=Nagoya (like a film festival, special
screening event etc.), please also offer details of the event (better with a
link of the event info attached).
Please
make sure you talk to the teacher regarding other options; also check our blog
for my updates on (free) events in/outside of Nagoya. Please try your
best to attend actual event(s).
Reference for your film review could be this one
that I shared earlier in this semester:
Corrigan, Timothy. A Short Guide to
Writing About Film. 9th. ed. New York: Longman 2014
Nagoya’s Mini-Theaters (arthouse/second-round;
mostly with NO English-subtitle when showing Japanese films)
1. Nagoya Cinematique 名古屋シネマテーク (http://cineaste.jp/) : they have
a great collection of film magazines too (in English, French and Japanese and
more); a tiny library from which you could access lots of unthinkable
documents. Strongly recommend.
4.Slightly more
comfortable cinemas for viewing new art films
Please submit the Journal to the lecturer’s email address maran@nagoya-u.jp with the subject “Take Home Project
ACH”. The Word file
should contain “ACH” + the student’s name in its file name. I’d send out confirmation email once your assignment is
received. Late submission is not accepted unless emergency happens.
